Norman & Ernest Spittle / Art Fittings Ltd massive copper charger, England circa 1903. The Spittle Brothers were the firm behind Art Fittings where Gustav Stickley purchased several items while visiting London, which became the foundation of the designs he put into production in his own shop. This exquisite hammered copper charger is quite large & heavy with outstanding hammered details across the floral motifs. Original patina surface, Spittle was one of the few English firms to apply rich patinas to the copper. The charger is pictured in the earliest Spittle brothers catalog, see images below. This is the only example of this form we have seen surface. Measures over 20” tall and the central portion is 1.5” deep. SOLD
