James Smithies English Arts & Crafts box, Wilmslow England circa 1900. A rare box with a hammered copper body, repoussé floral details on top and sides, with open work in each end. Sits of 4 heavy hammered brass legs attached with copper rivets. Smithies work rarely appears on the market, he was highly commended for his craftsmanship with several features in The Studio Magazine, see last image. Wonderful original patina & condition, signed and dated. Measures 6.5” wide, 4.25” deep and 3” tall. SOLD
