Valentine Marks Kluge serving tray, Syracuse NY circa 1906. Kluge joined Gustav Stickley in the metal shop in 1903 and was foreman from 1904 before departing to open the V.M.K. Company shop in 1906 which only lasted a few years. A handful of objects, many identical to Craftsman Workshop forms like this tray, have surfaced with this mark. The hammered copper tray retains the original dark brown patina with some lightening in the center and some soft green highlights. One small ripple to edge, overall excellent condition. Signed. Measures 18.5” wide with handles, 15” wide tray alone and 1.5” tall. SOLD
