Guild of Handicraft mantle clock, Campden, England circa 1905. A hammered copper clock case finished in silver plate. The tall square body embellished with spiraling slugs to the front panel, side with slightly raised lobes and the top finished with a large dome. The base has a wide raised foot with a recessed interior. The removable clock has a detailed enamel face under glass with two snails and numbers done in white, black, reds, blues and touches of gold. The hands are hand crafted in the shape of honesty plants, appear to be made of gold or brass. There is a very small âMKâ etched on the bottom, likely a Guild artist mark. As typical, the clock is unsigned yet the design elements - dome, raised lobes, wide foot, enamel face - all line up with works pictured in a 1905 German periodical on Guild of Handicraft work. The images show an identical enamel clock face with eels. Clock in overall fine condition, enamel is mint, body with mild plate wear and surface marks. Measures 8 1/2â high, base is 5 1/2â square.
