Friedrich Müller hammered copper bread box, Nürnberg Germany circa 1906. Müller was an individual coppersmith creating unique handmade pieces outside of any manufacturing firm. While in Nürnberg, he studied closely with Peter Behrens. This large piece is unsigned yet has the characteristic hallmarks of his work - same handle design & object form as seen in other signed pieces of his work. The large bread box is hand hammered across the entire form with a wonderful hammered floral motif rising in the center. The handle and hinge are Jugendstil cast pieces in brass. Measures 15” wide and 7” tall. Some of the best German Arts & Crafts work we have handled. SOLD
