French Art Nouveau box dated 1917. This large & heavy hammered copper box was created in May of 1917 as a memorial to the battle of “Moulin de Laffaux” where French troops captured the Laffaux Mill site along the Chemin des Dames ridge in Northern France during World War One. The box is signed by H. Panthier on the top edge. The box is masterfully decorated with leafs and berries with a large beetle on the lid. Excellent condition with a fine old warm patina. Measures 9.5” wide, 6.25” deep nad 5.5” tall. $1,250
