Karl Kipp lantern, East Aurora circa 1914. The only known four sided square example of this copper and stained glass lantern as pictured in his 1914 catalog. This example is identical to the cataloged form with the addition of added leaded swirls at the top of each side panel, a design used by KK in a handful of his rare Roycroft lanterns and candelabrums. The only known lanterns that have surfaced are the shop lanterns with his KK in the glass, sold at Sothebys in 1981 and now reside in the High Museum of Art. The green and yellow glass in these lanterns match the glass in this example as well as the construction, caming and age related wear. Identical measurements to catalog, the glass shade portion is 9” tall and 4” square, overall height with ring at 11 3/4” tall. Two small breaks to the glass, both very stable. Currently not wired, as found and fresh to the market. POR
