John Pearson for the Guild of Handicraft letter box, London circa 1890’s. Attributed to Pearson while working at the Guild, this unsigned letter box has all the signs of his design style and quality of his workmanship. All four panels are decorated with hammered and repoussé tulips, the large panels with birds and butterflies. He used various horizontal hammering techniques in the background to impress passing clouds in the sky. Excellent condition, original patina with one side slightly lighter. A magnificent piece of early English Arts & Crafts metalwork. Measures 8.75” wide, 5.75” tall and 3.25” deep. SOLD
