Nelson & Edith Dawson copper charger, Chiswick England circa 1902. A stunning hammered copper charger set with a central enamel cabochon. Attributed & unsigned, Nelson Dawson was a master metalsmith, this is some of the finest hammering we have seen on an English form. The copper mount around the enamel is a classic Dawson form used around their enamels on objects & jewelry (see examples below), a thick floral type edge work set with large rivets. Edith produced this style of enamel, amorphous designs with swirling shades of green & blue. Copper body is very thick with a heavy rolled edge. Wonderful original chocolate patina to copper, enamel has no cracks or breaks. Measures 12” across. SOLD
