Charles Owens (1881-1958) painting, Los Angeles dated April, 1915. A beautiful watercolor of a Southwest desert plateau scene, framed in the original walnut frame. Signed on reverse with inscription “A bit of our wild and wooly for my friend Van.” Owens was one of the most celebrated newspaper illustrators in the West, starting at the SF Chronicle in the late 1800’s before becoming the head illustrator for the LA Times where he was for several decades. His book “Nuestro Pueblo, Los Angeles, City of Romance” is filled with his illustrations of Southern California. Measures 12.25” wide and 7.75” tall. SOLD
